FallFest, 19 October 2003
.
Our FallFest (Blading, Biking, Kayaking and Picnicing) will be held in Philippe Park at Shelter #7. Philippe Park is a beautiful and ideal park to have an outing.. Much of the 122-acre park is shaded by large oaks and other hardwood trees. The park offers picnicing, a view of Old Tampa Bay, a boat launching facility, play areas and naturally restrooms.

Philippe Park was acquired in 1948, making it the oldest park in the county. This historically rich park bears the name of Count Odet Philippe who introduced citrus culture to Florida. The existing park property was part of the original Philippe plantation from which several citrus trees still remain. An Indian mound listed in the National Register of Historic Landmarks as the Safety Harbor Site is also located within the park.

FallFest 2003 is hosted by the Showsharks and Sunday Bladers. Just bring a dish to pass and your own drinks. We will provide plates, eating utensils, napkins, table decorations, drink cups and a guaranteed good time.. We want you and your family and friends to have a good time so bring them.

Roller Bladers will roll out at 9:00 AM and the Picnic will start at 11:30 AM. The Picnic will go from 11:30 AM to 3 PM. We always have plenty of food so come when you can. Henry will probably stop grilling around 1 PM.

Directions to Phillippe Park: Going North or South on McMullen Booth Road, turn East onto Enterprise Road. Keep going on Enterprise Road for about 1.5 miles where Enterprise Road hits a "T" which is Philippe Parkway. Go left at the "T" and it is a short distance to the entrance into Philippe Park on your right. Follow the signs to Shelter #7. Shelter #7 is close to the Indian Mound.
