Telluride Trip Report By: Pat Weathers Telluride, Colorado est. 1878 - elev. 8750 ft. We just returned from our final trip of the season to Telluride, Colorado. The city is only 10 blocks by 15 blocks with a population of about 2,000. A real cowboy town. This was my first visit, but it’s not going to be my last. One of the most positive things about Telluride are no lift lines. We were told their busiest day was over Christmas with 8,000 visitors. Vail has something like 30,0000 to 40,0000 visitors per day! We loved not waiting in line for the lift. Several of us took a mountain tour by one of the residents of Telluride. We learned a lot of facts about the city, toured all the blue runs and a few groomed blacks. The best thing about the tour was we didn’t get in any trouble or make any wrong turns--we just followed. We had beginners to advanced skiers in our group. The mountain had plenty to offer no matter what level skier you were. The weather couldn’t have been better, high 30’s low 40’s PERFECT! I would recommend this mountain to anyone, and I can’t wait to go back! |
