| After launching at Zollo springs, we had a 7 hour trip down the river with about 15 walk around places. This was a little much after getting up at 4:30 AM. Recovery from the trip came quickly by sitting in the river and having some refreshing drinks. Unpacking and setting up our tents wasn’t near as bad as I had imaged it would be. Master cook, Al, prepared hamburgers, cheese burgers and curly hot dogs as the main coarse for dinner. Entrees of deviled eggs, a salad, lobster Creole and other good things filled everyone to the brim. We built a fire but couldn’t sit to close to it. Even after a long day, sleeping without extra medication before about 11 PM was difficult. We had prepared, sort of, for wild animals lurking around at night but there weren’t any that I know of. Berry and I serenaded our end of the camp ground during the night. Maybe that’s why no animals showed. We messed around the next day, took a group picture and headed for the barn. Two hours of canoeing, an hour lunch and we were at the Canoe Outpost. Next time we’ll do the extra day and when the river is higher. |
