Thirty (34) Snow Sharks woke extra early on the morning of March 23, arriving at Tampa Airport 1 ½ hours before their 7:25AM departure on Southwest Airlines. Arriving at Albuquerque right on time, they met up with other Snow Sharks, and Roger and Dan from Snakedance Inn, who were loading luggage into trucks. The travelers entered the 42 passenger bus for our ride to Taos. Got settled in at Snakedance, did the rental thing, then had the Welcome Party in the Library, Dinner and Fireworks. A busy day followed by a busy week!
Yoga was every morning at 7:00, free Breakfast at 8:00, Lifts opened at 9:00, Ernie Blake Ski Better Week at 10:00, scheduled lunches at 12:00, Apres Ski in Snakedance Lounge at 4:00, Dinner reservations every evening at 7:00! This was our agenda for the week. Had a great Bonco Party and free Pizza Dinner on Monday, then dinner in town at the famous Trading Post on Tuesday. Thursday was our NASTAR race with the Snow Sharks challenged by the Snakedance employees one of the highlights of our trip. Twelve (12) of our skiers won NASTAR medals with Jessica England obtaining a Silver Medal. She had the second fastest time (click Nastar Race Results above). Wally Winston did a couple of end over cartwheels on his last run, and Marsha England crashed into the Timekeeper's shack, but miraculously no one was seriously hurt all week. Snakedance won the challenge, but only by a few points. Everyone enjoyed the Apres Ski Nastar Awards Party. The weather was warm, but Tuesday saw a snowfall that lasted 24 hrs. and gave us 6 inches of new snow, which held up the rest of the week. Thursday evening we had reservations at the Bavarian Lodge. Friday was dinner at Snakedance on the Club, with the Awards Banquet. On the return trip, Saturday, we were able to spend 3 hours in Santa Fe for shopping, dining, or a quick taxi ride to Camel Rock Casino. It was a super week with super people no whiners or complainers, truly a great trip. Snakedance Inn is Snowshark friendly! Thanks Roger and Staff! |
